Korea Money Brokerage Corp. (CEO Hae-young Woo) announces on the 18th that employees conduct "coastal environmental cleanup plogging" at Masian Beach on Yeongjongdo Island, located in Jung-gu, Incheon.

KMB employees walk along the coast and collect trash from visitors, such as PET bottles, styrofoam pieces, fishing nets, and buoys, as well as waste generated from fishing activities.

This plogging activity does not stop at simple trash collection; employees work in groups of four to record the types and amounts of collected trash using an application. This data on the amount and type of waste helps in establishing environmental management policies and allows the local community to be accurately informed of the environmental status to prepare better solutions.

CEO Hae-young Woo says, “In celebration of 2024 Earth Day, employees conduct coastal plogging together. This event is the first step for Korea Money Brokerage Corp. to practice carbon neutrality, which is important for preventing global warming and climate change, and it is a time to realize the seriousness of environmental issues firsthand. We will continue to fulfill our role as a financial institution to create a healthy planet and strive to pursue sustainable management.”

Through the coastal environmental cleanup activities of Korea Money Brokerage Corp. employees, 288kg of marine waste is collected. This is equivalent to 17,715 disposable PET bottles and holds social value by preventing marine microplastic pollution caused by fragmentation in advance at the beach, thereby reducing secondary damage to the marine ecosystem and overall environmental restoration costs.

According to the environmental contribution disclosure data verified by the non-profit organization Ita Seoul, it contributes to reducing the environmental load on marine life and the human circular ecosystem by preventing 210 million mg (avoidance of biological impact from microplastics) of plastic from leaking into the ocean.
